Whatcom Site Council Minutes for September 22, 2003
Whatcom Site Council Minutes for September 22, 2003
Present: Linda Rabener, Jeff Coulter, John Thibault, Sonja Moon, Ann Buswell, Tad Lewis, Wendy Albrecht
Minutes: Minutes for May 12, amended and approved.
New Business:
· Teaming Update: Teaming Structure went into effect
this year, changing the day to an 8 period day. Teachers have given positive
feedback thus far and most reported the collaborative meeting time to be very
helpful. As it is still in the beginning stages, there are some issues to be
worked out.
· WMS Leadership Structure: Jeff handed out an outline
of the leadership members, the purpose and the areas where the leadership team
has input. Also listed were the format for the faculty meetings.
· Enrollment: WMS has 22 more students than last year
as of September.
· Site Council Goal: It was decided to continue with
our previous goal: to improve and increase parental involvement. Communication
will be key to accomplishing this. A new program is to be implemented called
“Parent Connect.” This allows parents access via computer to their
student’s grades. It will be necessary for parents to sign up with Pat
Ruttan and get a password and pin. Information will be in upcoming newsletter.
· Site Council Meeting Schedule: Site council will continue
to meet the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:30.
· New Member Training: New member training is scheduled
for Oct 14th, 2003 from 3:45-5:00pm in the Board Room.
From the Floor:
· New Site Council Members: Linda volunteered to stay on one more year
as the Classified Staff representative. The Classified Staff will vote on it.
We are also looking for a person to take the minutes for the 2003-2004 school
year.
· Agendas: Sonja said it would be helpful to have the agenda before the
meeting.
· Meeting dismissed at 7:40
Next Meeting Monday, October 13th,
2003 at 6:30
